Staff report VIENNA Las Vegas-based Allegiant Air and its pilots are done with a yearslong negotiation process. The pilots five-year contract that includes pay increases, plus improvements in benefits and scheduling, will go into effect Monday. But we knew that by sticking together, we could win a contract that raises standards for our industry and gives our families the stability we need. he saidAllegiant, which offers air service to four destinations at the Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport, has negotiated with the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Local 1224 in mediated sessions under the National Mediation Board since February 2014. This is the first contract ratified by the Local 1224 members. More than 85 percent of voting Allegiant pilots voted to ratify the contract through anonymous ballots between mid-July and Thursday. The pilots considered the contract a major victory. They immediately will receive pay increases of up to 31 percent, high-quality health insurance and greater job security, according to the union. Other contract highlights included a 150 percent increase in the companys 401k matching contribution, up to four weeks of paid vacation and an improved scheduling system. Negotiations nearly led to a strike last year during the busy Easter weekend, but a court order prevented the pilots from striking. Having the first contract agreement with our pilots is an important milestone, and opens a new chapter for Allegiant, said Maury Gallagher, Allegiant chairman and chief executive officer, in a statement.
